Florence boutiques for the fashion-conscious

Via Tornabuoni and the close by Via della Vigna Nuova are the two main high fashion streets in Florence. It is very difficult to say which boutique is better than the other or what clothes and accessories and other types of shops are of a higher quality, because we believe it is simply a matter of personal taste.

Certainly, walking down these streets, the first wide and important, and the second more discreet, can become a real tour into fashion, style, high quality and beauty, starting from the displays. There are boutiques such as Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermes jewelleries as Pomellato, Buccellati, Tiffany shoe boutiques as Casadei, Cesare Paciotti.

We personally love:

Florence Boutique Name: Gucci

Type: clothing; especially the accessories (bags, wallets and shoes)
Address: Via Tornabuoni, 73r; 055-2645432.
Note: a completely Florentine brand, which had its logo and the colours beige, red and green as its trademark and always distinguished itself for the accessories. It almost disappeared for a while and then reappeared several years ago, totally renewed, and has since then redefined the meaning of chic. Shoes are not particularly comfortable, they are for small and narrow feet, but they are beautiful.

Florence Boutique Name: Gianfranco Ferre

Type: clothing
Address: Via della Vigna Nuova, 2; 055-290551.
Note: he is the architect of high fashion clothing: beautiful, important, exquisitely elegant and perfectly tailored chemises, pants and dress coats.

Florence Boutique Name: Armani

Type: clothing and accessories
Address: Via Tornabuoni, 48r; 055-2658121.
Note: Armani can be distinguished among thousands of designers; he has always maintained his minimalist refined line, which elegantly cover and caress the body lines and strengthen masculinity and femininity. We love the textiles and also his accessories: especially colliers and small handbags.

Florence Boutique Name: Pucci

Type: clothing
Address: Via Tornabuoni, 20r; 055-2658082.
Note: Pucci's prints have always been his trademark; very Florentine too, by the way Besides the renewed love for the Sixties fashion, the colours and lines of the prints and clothes are certainly exquisitely refined.

Florence Boutique Name: Prada

Type: clothing and accessories (bags and shoes)
Address: Via Tornabuoni, 63r; 055-283439.
Note: what we love of Prada is the essential, avant-garde yet very feminine (a certain modern feminine air in menswear too) and retro-style designs; Prada is also very popular for its urban chich sportswear.

Florence Boutique Name: Max Mara

Type: clothing
Address: Via Tornabuoni, 68; 055-214133.
Note: it mixes both modern and classic style.

Florence Boutique Name: BP Studio

Type: refined knitwear
Address: Via della Vigna Nuova, 15/r; tel. 055-213243
Note: another interesting boutique. Closed on Sunday and Monday morning.

In other streets........

Florence Boutique Name: Valentino

Type: clothing
Address: Via Tosinghi, 52r; 055-293142.
Note: the prototipe of classic, elegant femininity with a touch of sensuality, the ́rosso Valentinoî, the famous red of his textiles and clothes. He also does fresher and younger designs.

Florence Boutique Name: Ferragamo

Type: clothing and accessories (shoes)
Address: Palazzo Ferroni, Via Tornabuoni, 16; 055-292123.
Note: a world-famous name in shoemaking, Ferragamo speaks for itself. They also have freshly elegant clothes, beautiful silk scarves and bath towels and new collections of handbags with a young and modern look.

Florence Boutique Name: Emporio Armani

Type: clothing and some accessories

Note: a more modern, youthful and colourful look with an exquisite varieties of pieces.

Florence Boutique Name: Luisa

Note: this is one of the most famous boutiques in Italy. She carries super designers and completely unknown ones as well. Plus you can find all sorts of accessories, from bags to shoes to jewellery. Always open between 10am and 7pm, though on Sunday it opens at 11am.

Florence Boutique Name: Nara Camicie

Type: original shirts
Address: Via Calzaioli
Note: a very small shop with shirts in all varieties possible. All the designs are original by Nara Camicie: beautiful, modern, fancy, extravagant but also classic, in basic colours and sometimes in gold and electric blue or violet, in silk, cotton and stretch. They are a trademark!

Florence Boutique Name: Maya

Type: avant-garde clothing and some accessories (shoes)
Address: Via Por Santa Maria.
Note: we like this boutique because it carries different, alternative and creative, post-modern designers, such as, for example, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garçons, Ann Demeulemeester, etc. These are clothes for confident people who like to experiment or express themselves originally.
