Florence is well known for its leather goods, such as bags, shoes, clothing and
accessories. The Santa Croce district is the richest in town fore leather shops
and workshops.

Note: there are 3 interesting aspects to the "Scuola": the working place is a former
ancient dorm designed by Michelozzo and frescoed by Ghirlandaio's disciples. The
artisans still work on wood banks from the Fifties. This artisan activity started
as a school for Second World War orphans. It developed so well and with such high
quality that its products are exported and sold all over the world; having important
customers such as royals, politicians, hotels and movie stars.
