Patty Smith, rock icon, poet and world wide known photographer will inaugurate
her first Florentine exhibition next Tuesday, September 8th, in the Galleria Poggiali
e Forconi, in front of CASA HOWARD. For this occasion she will also perform a short acoustic performance. The exhibition
will stay open till October 6th.
The exhibition ,set up by Jonathan Nelson and Lorenzo Poggiali, shows about 80
black and white Polaroid photos, shot in the last 5 years, mostly unedited and
for the first time in Italy.
The photos, personally chosen by Patty Smith, show her love for the City of Florence, her admiration for the great masters from whom she has taken inspiration, something
special seen in Italy. She says: "I look at my photos more like as at an object
rather than at an image. They enclose much more than an instant, they enclose
something precious, something I may not see again" (…) "I'm really proud and enthusiastic
to exhibit my works in Florence. It's a City with an important artistic past,
a City of great artists but also of great pupils. Here I feel one of them and
that my masters are everywhere."
