Florence with kids, our suggestions for families traveling along Tuscany

Florence with kids, an engaging adventure for families, but where to start? What are the best things to do in the Capital of Tuscany with kids? What are the most “family friendly” places and activities offer by the Renaissance’s Homeland?
First of all, we can suggest an ideal location for your flawless journey with children, a tailored suite, inside our guest house, right in the heart of Florence, a few steps from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, within a walking distance from the main Railway Station. The Play Room is perfect for hosting families, a charming proposal completed by a wall for climbing and playing safely.

Time to explore Florence with your kids! What about starting by discovering the Uffizi Gallery with a guided tour? Kids are always fascinated by a closer contact with masterpieces such as the Botticelli's Spring and Leonardo's Annunciation (Florence and Tuscany Tours organizes many tours for Youngers, book what you prefer!). Enjoy a breathtaking experience inside one of the most important museum in the world.

An obligatory stop is Piazza della Repubblica, with its Art Nouveau carousel, excellent for enjoying a peaceful break, just sit on a bench and watch your sons have fun, get your relaxing moment. Often in the square you can hear swing and jazz bands playing, it is a pure pleasure to listen to them!

Children usually love the views from above: the most captivating, if you are in downtown, is at the top of Santa Maria del Fiore, including the walkway revealing exciting glimpses of Brunelleschi's Dome.
Afterwards you could visit the Boboli Gardens, with a quick passage to Palazzo Pitti, a real Royal European Court where you can admire the luxury setting and princely splendor of past eras. The surrounding park is simply delightful, a place of continuous discovery where hiking in the open air while immersed in art: a dreamlike dimension.

Nearby you will find the Museum of Natural History La Specola (Via Romana, 17, 055 275 6444, closed on Mondays), unique in Italy for the amount of specimens shown and the possibility of science research with kids.
What to do if it rains? Reserve immediately the tickets for the Stibbert Museum (Via Federico Stibbert, 26, 055 475520, closed on Thursdays)! The collected armor and the many exotic objects will fascinate the younger adventurers, they will fall in love with this attraction!

For a snack: a “gelato”, an ice cream: Carapina (Via Lambertesca, 18 and Piazza Oberdan, 2r), a few seconds from Ponte Vecchio, or the Gelateria De 'Neri (Via dei Neri 9 / 10r), near Piazza della Signoria. In both the quality of the ingredients is very high, in the second you can choose among an incredible number of flavors!

For dinner get a table at Mirò for a superb Italian pizza (Viale Morgagni, 7-9 / r, 055 411110, complete with a safe play area, bathroom, changing table and high chairs available), or in a central position, the Hard Rock Cafe, which doesn’t serve traditional Tuscan food, but guarantees great attention to kids (dedicated menus and guitar-shaped dishes). Or decide for a dining at the theatre! Head to the Salt Theater (via de 'Macci, 111 / r, 055/2001492): enjoy the buffet (you will find high chairs, changing table and area for breastfeeding for mothers). After dinner you will be surprised by the show.
